Yesterday was pretty rad too. It was the first day of my taking my boss' job since she took her vacation a few days early due to a family emergency. I feel really bad for her and I hope everything will work out. So work yesterday was wicked cool. I received lots of lovely messages from friends. Even the people who are staff members here who are also on facebook came to my office to wish me a happy birthday. Work was really good. Very busy. It was good to get things done to remind myself I am semi-competent. I might have a job lined up for the year, I have to check on it before I jinx myself. My office crew was so nice. We had a really big meeting last night that my office has been working on for weeks, but they still found the time to remember my birthday, order a couple of pizzas, and bring a cake for the office to share. Funny thing: I lost two slices of cake. No kidding. Set one down and it got lost/eaten, took out another, that got lost/eaten, finally took the remaining scraps for my cake. It was so good! Then I went to dinner with my parents and Scott to PF Changs in downtown SoJo. Scott proceeded to drag me out of the house to a pool hall near my house that I used to hang out at as a kid. I haven't been there in years. It still has the same owner, but he wasn't there last night. Still it was nice to see the place again.
But by far there were two excellent parts of my day. The first was walking into another office and seeing my friend Erica. I haven't seen her in at least a year and a half. The second part happened just before we went to bed. I got a phone message (not a missed call, because my phone didn't pick up on that one) from Tyler. I haven't talked to her really since the dredded Cognitive Psychology class. We've known each other for four years and worked together so much. I would hate to lose her. She made my birthday very special. Not that she knew it was my birthday. Just called to say she had seen me on campus and that she wanted to hang out. Made me very happy.
Driving to work today, I was stopped at a light. And I noticed something funny. The left turning light went from green to yellow. But the yellow arrow was facing straight, not left. I had a double take moment and started cracking up. Hey , I think it's funny. heehee
