I've been at work for less than an hour and got bombarded with two recent engagements.  TWO.  Granted, one of them is Stephani's because I saw her responses on Jason's LJ and just had to take a quick peek.  But God.  I then started laughing and walked to the Information Desk, where I was hit YET AGAIN by another recent engagement  "Hi, I'm engaged!" said Mindy.  I think she's a senior.

I have to admit I know very little about the subject of the marriages of young people and how well they succeed.  Our parents and grandparents probably got married at young ages, some of them younger than we are now.  And for most of the marriages (with the exception of my mother's first marriage) lasted the length of their lives.

But these days it's just so much more hip to be single until you are 25.  Or at least not be married.  Or, you know, be one of the ladies or gentlemen on Sex and the City and just be single forever.  Look at all your options and, after you've dated around...

Of course, we have options our parents and grandparents didn't have.  We can live together before marriage.  Just because we can doesn't mean we should or shouldn't, but it's an option.  We can have sex before marriage.  At least, it is much more acceptable and even expected these days.  So it's no wonder people are still getting married early, while some have grown to expect some of the benefits of marriage in the dating stages.

I have few friends who are married, I have to say.  None of my close friends.  It's ironic that in this group of three friends that I was once in, the other two are married.  Maybe it's because I didn't really know them when they were single, or in the first stages or something.

I've thought about it.  Everyone has.  I tried not to think about it in my last relationship, and I've considered it quietly in this one.

Congrats to all who are getting married.  I wish you luck and happiness.

I'm trying to read more classical books.  I'm reading the last Al Franken book, Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them.  Next up is American Psycho, recommended by hentaioverfiend and lent to me by my boss.  I'm open to suggestions.  I want to read Contact too.  I haven't read Sci Fi since Douglas Adams, and I want to dive into Asimov again, it's just too much for me at the moment.

I'm just looking forward to the concert this weekend.  Jem.  Black-Eyed Peas.  Dave Matthews Band.  ROCK

When life gives you lemons, call the orange tree you haven't spoken with in a while.  Somehow he hasn't forgotten you, and you are still friends.

The answer to my prayers.

And thanks for the chat, </a></b></a>vintagefury .
